She/her, queer/ace-spectrum, autistic, biracial (Chinese/white Wonder Bread). I am old enough to remember seeing ads for Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the WB. I yell about TV a lot, for good or ill. Currently stuck in Marvel/MCU fandom, also Terminator: Dark Fate, ATLA, The Magnus Archives, sometimes YA books, and bizarre shitposts. My superpower is finding f/f couples despite all odds. #eeltrash #StandOnTopOfWard
This is from the ClexaCon Virtual panel with Joanne Kelly and Jaime Murray, with Dana Piccoli as moderator and Mark as ASL interpreter. I spent around six hours on this and there were really only a couple of brief bits I couldn’t make out - I tried to make this as thorough as possible even though the audio quality was iffy at points and there was a lot of overlapping talking. I also included all of the ums and uhs in the interest of thoroughness so sorry if that gets annoying. Let me know if I’ve gotten any screen names wrong.
Content notes: brief discussion of on-set injury, allusions to homophobia from higher-ups, discussions of hostile workplace experiences due to gender, brief discussion of the ovarian cancer subplot, Jo misgenders Mark once and then corrects herself.
its crazy how people deny the 10th Doctor’s shitty treatment of Martha was at least partially the result of anit-Black writing and misogynoir!! they’ll literally be like “no it wasn’t racism uwu he was just sad about Rose” my sibling in christ, even if that were the sole reason for the 10th Doctor behaving the way he did, that is still NOT any kind of reason enough to treat another person like that. “i am sad about my ex so i am literally going constantly compare you to her to your face and insult you by saying you’re not as good as her and yell at you for even trying to ask me about it” IS straight up insanely boarderline abusive behaviour that isn’t excuseable. and for y’all to pretend this was not at least escalated by Martha being Black is utter lunacy. ESPECIALLY when you saw how the 10th Doctor treated Donna in the special BEFORE he met Martha and he treated her with NOWHERE NEAR with the same level of vitriol. he even asks Donna to travel with him straight away. He kept “just one trip and that’s it”-ing Martha and he didn’t even give martha a TARDIS key until episode 8 of THE SEASON WHERE SHE WAS THE COMPANION. the only GLARING difference between Donna and Martha IS their race. again, the way Martha was written compared to the other companions of that era was very clearly racialised and this includes the Doctor being mad at her for [checks notes] not being Rose which is NOT SOMETHING HE DID WITH ANYONE ELSE. it’s a very clear and obvious to anyone, especially Black folks and poc, that RTD had an unconscious double standard in the way he wrote Black companions and I am so TIRED of people trying to justify the 10th Doctor treating Black people (i.e. Mickey as well) like shit “because of Rose” as if that’s even a fucking decent argument to make.
Im still SO fuckign mad some child psychologists or whatever think parallel play is a negative thing oh my god i hate the NTs sometiems
Literally me and my bf call it cat time where we chill together and do our own things (bc cats interpret spending time together as just lounging in the same space together) and it’s so comfy and happy wtf is wrong w nts
Ahhhh thats so lovely yes u get it
. Doctors think thats a BAD thing??????
Parallel play is supposed to be an early stage of childhood development that transitions into social play, but continuing to do it into adulthood is not considered “normal”
Like the way they talk abt it is GROSS
Parallel play is incredible and social and good actually
The fact this post has so many notes so quick… We all fuckign love parallel play in here <3
Soooo much of adult life enjoyment is parallel play.
Hitting the club? Parallel play. You might be dancing with someone, or just dancing in a crowd, But you’re still surrounded by people you’re not playing -with-.
Sporting Events. Unless you’re on the field it’s parallel play.
Coffee shops. People go to read and right in a place with others present. Parallel play.
Tons more examples out there of neurotypicals enjoying parallel play without calling it that.
One of the kids I’m babysitting rn just asked me, “Miss Amy, can I tell you a secret?” and then informed me that his brother does not have blood anymore, because they saw a doctor take it
Same kid that attended this Sunday’s church service in full vampire bat costume and screeched loudly anytime someone said his name
Update his two year old brother just handed me a partially squished cockroach
Today’s secret is “if I carry too many things, I die,” and he definitely, for sure did not tell me that specifically because I asked him to pick up his jacket moments beforehand
“Where’s the tiger?” the five year old asks, peering around the zoo. “I don’t see him!”
“Probably he had to get his covid shot,” says the three year old, nodding wisely.
How could I possibly forget this exchange
“You can’t play with my skunk,” says the three year old, snatching the toy from the five year old. “Mr. Skunk doesn’t like you.”
“Whoa, whoa,” I say, while driving. “Mr. Skunk likes everyone!”
The three year old makes direct eye contact with me in the rear view mirror. “Except the police,” he says darkly.
Overwhelmed! When the five year old learned that I’m having a bad day today, he immediately asked me to take him home so he can “get us a snack and help with whatever you want to do today.”
The three year old has offered to carry all the backpacks into the house, despite his former statements re: dying if asked to carry his own belongings
Today the two year old stole the headphones I always wear, put them on upside down, and ran away yelling “hi Babydoll!” over and over, which is in fact how I greet him. I did not come here to be roasted by a toddler
I recently put a purple streak in my hair! The three year old says that he loves it. He says he loves my brown hair too, because it’s beautiful. I feel very loved and I am going to bake him cookies about it
The three year old has covid (he’s okay), so I won’t be seeing the children this week :(
Here’s another story from last week instead:
“Do you want to come make paper airplanes?” the five year old asks. “I have a book that teaches you how.”
“Sure,” I say, following him upstairs. “I like paper airplanes.”
“It’ll be easy for you,” the five year old assures me, “because you can– wait. Can you read?”
The three year old has recovered <3
He’s also a little confused by the phrase “playing a trick,” so if he suspects I’m teasing him, he’ll point and yell “you’re tricking!” instead
Today he told me that I’m “always tricking…… kind of like satan”
i dont believe anyone has npc energy in the sense that their thoughts and feelings dont matter but i did just walk past an old woman today who (presumably to no one) said “ive been dreaming of croissants…” and trailed off while i walked by her and i believe. that is a moment i will never know more about
oh well now here come the side quest enthusiasts 🙄
Buffalo Community Fridges has a Target Registry. the get involved page says they prefer physical donations of unexpired food over monetary donations, but if youre like me and not anywhere near buffalo, you can help with this.
they need things like tampons, water, and deoderant, and soap, but also lots of tea/coffee and spices
Sorry if it’s a little cramped- had to make this all fit in ten photos (I normally post to Imgur and have loads of room) . Hope you guys like it….. and again…. sorry Andrew
WOW I CANT BELIEVE HOW MANY PEOPLE LOVE THIS- thank you so much. Since a few questions have been brought up about seeing my comic elsewhere- I’m happy and grateful to finally have a platform to address it.
Andrews Window Shit was first made in September of 2014. I posted it to my Imgur/DeviantArt and it has since traveled the world. It has also been stolen more times than I can count. I never thought anyone would steal someone else’s embarrassing childhood memory, but I guess that’s the world we live in.
I have seen it on 4chan a few dozen times, Imgur (which is hilarious as that’s my original posting place and I never understood their theft when I litterally was a constant member there), 9gag, funnyjunk and so on. Sadly these weren’t people reposting my work- these were people actually claiming it was theirs.
The nice thing about my childhood is it was pretty fucking unique. Because of this, and thanks to helpful people out there, it’s been relatively easy to track my stories through the web. This doesn’t always mean I get them taken down or credit given. More often than not I don’t. When I first posted these, “ristay” was not wellknown- I was a nobody but had created (apparently) some catchy stuff pretty quick. I found out pretty soon how easy it was for others to take my work- so easy because no one really knew me.
The one nice thing about the Internet is everything has a date. Whenever someone pushes me about “Ive seen this before at _____ it’s not yours” I merely ask “what was the date posted” and give them my old ass comic.
This is one of the first times (besides its first appearance on Reddit in 2014) where my comic is trending again and it’s actually under my name- I’m actually getting the credit this time.
I am so thankful for you all for sharing this. Not just because it feels good to have such support but also to finally have my own work in the light again but under its rightful author.
